Hebrews

Overview

It was very difficult for Jews, still in a Jewish environment, to be practicing Christians. They suffered much criticism and persecution. This book places Christ in the context of Jewish history as the divine Prophet, Priest and King.

It places Christ ahead of the Priesthood of Aaron and ahead of the Law of Moses. His was a "once for all" sacrifice and the Christian has a new covenant replacing the old Judaic one.

Author

The apostle Paul is generally accepted as the author although there is little direct evidence to support this.
