
The Last Judgement.
- The Last Judgement is certain.
- it is as certain as death. Heb 9 vs 27.
- God has fixed the day, and appointed the Judge! Acts 17 vs 31.
- it will take place at Christ's second coming. 2 Tim 4 vs 1, Matt 25 vs 31-46.
- it will be preceded by the Resurrection. John 5 vs 28-29.
- it will be followed by the dissolution of the present universe. 2 Pet 3 vs 7.
- All of us will be present.
- all nations will be there. Matt 25 vs 32.
- and every person. Rom 14 vs 10, l2, 2 Cor 5 vs 10.
- every work will be judged. Eccl 12 vs 14.
- even the fallen angels must face that judgement. 2 Pet 2 vs 4, Jude 1 vs 6.
- It will be an awful day.
- it is the day for God's righteous judgement to be
unveiled. Rom 2 vs 5-6.
- every thought (1 Cor 4 vs 5), secret thing (Eccles 12 vs 14), word (Matt 12 vs 36), and
action (Rev 20 vs 13) will be judged - justly! (Gen 18 vs 25).
- Christ's word will witness against those who have rejected Him. John 12 vs 48.
- all will be found guilty, and all excuses will die on our lips. Psalm 143 vs 2, Rom 3 vs
19.
- "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God". Heb 10 vs
31.
- Believers will be acquitted - and
rewarded.
- for there is no condemnation for them. Rom 5 vs 1, 8 vs
1.
- Christ will present them guiltless. 1 Cor 1 vs 8, 1 Thess 3 vs l3.
- this is because the punishment that their sins deserve has fallen on the Lord Jesus
Christ. Col 1 vs 20-22, 1 Thess 5 vs 9-10.
- and so they will enter glory. John 14 vs 1-3, Rev 21 vs 1-4.
- nonetheless, every Christian's work will be scrutinised. 1 Cor 3 vs 9-14.
- and there will be rewards for faithful service. Matt 25 vs 19-23, Rev 11 vs 18.
- it will have been worth serving Christ!! 2 Cor 1 vs 14, Phil 2 vs 16.
- Unbelievers will be condemned - and
punished
- for them the Last Day will be misery. Rev 1 vs 7.
- their punishment will be terrible. Rom 2 vs 8-9, 2 Thess 1 vs 8-9, Jude 1 vs 14-15, Rev
20 vs 11-15.
- those who had the most light will receive the worst punishment. Matt 11 vs 20-24, Luke
12 vs 47-48, Heb 10 vs 26-27.
Therefore :-
* Meet the Lord in mercy now, lest
you meet Him in anger then! Isaiah 55 vs 6-7
* Live holily, as those who are
certain to be judged. 2 Pet 3 vs 11,14, 2 Cor 5 vs 9-10.
* Out of compassion for the
perishing, give yourself to evangelism. 2 Cor 5 vs l1.
